A message from Gayle...

Dearest Friends,

Last week I heard the National Public Radio series called Story Corps, where ordinary people interview other ordinary people about their lives.  I am usually pretty moved by these stories, just the theme music makes me tear up.  A granddaughter interviewed her 90-year old grandfather, Lyle Link, in this segment.  He talked about how he couldn't be a farmer as his dad wanted him to be.  He had to pave his own path.  He married a woman that he loved for 70 years who felt the same way.  I lost it when he told his grandaughter that he hoped she would follow her own path to happiness and fulfillment as well.  He ends the interview by telling her to "live with courage!" (You can download this at npr.org and go to Story Corps)

Live with courage.  Isn't that a wonderful way to think about it?  That stuck with me all day as I thought about courageous people I admired and tried to find the courage in myself.  I think that we are more likely to live with courage when we live connected to and aware of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  The Spirit helps us to be bold, to be active, to be assured of the presence and blessing of God in our fearless moments.

Sunday we are baptizing all 3 Zoch kids (they are the family with the beautiful twins).  It is important for you to be there and show them how to live courageously!  See you there!!!

With Spirit-fueled courage,

Gayle+

Hello, and Welcome to our St. Thomas Home Page!

On behalf of all of the wonderful Christians who are part of our faith community, thank you so much for visiting our Internet home! We encourage you to visit the various areas of the site to learn more about what we have to offer.

At St. Thomas, we do our utmost to provide gracious hospitality to all we encounter, both within the doors of our lovely church and outside in the world at large. Our aim at St. Thomas is stated clearly in our Vision Statement, and we urge you to click on the appropriate link here to learn what we strive to be about.

Our charming parish church has been serving Berea and the Southwest portion of Cuyahoga County, Ohio (the Cleveland area) since 1893 in this location, and for many years before that in others.  We are nestled in the midst of the beautiful Baldwin-Wallace college campus and just one block from the quaint downtown historic district of Berea.

We cordially invite you to come and worship with us next time you are in the area! We very much look forward to personally greeting you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and introducing you to our active and growing community of believers at St. Thomas Episcopal Church!

Yours in Christ,

The Rev. Gayle Catinella
